A rare ‘Pulsar P1 Prototype LED Digital Watch’ is up for sale on eBay, for your info the watch “was the first model LED watch ever sold to the public and was hugely expensive when new, as much as a car — 18k solid gold and fitted with the original 18k gold bracelet dated 1971.” The watch is priced at a hefty $25,000. The P1 is an amazing piece of engineering for its’ time [first offered to the public in April, 1972]. Only 400 were produced; less than 50 are known in the world’s collections. Incidentally, this is NOT a prototype…the P1 is a production watch. I was fortunate to win this auction, making it the 5th P1 in my collection, and the second fully boxed specimen. And yes, this is a VERY cool watch…
